think about this...

In today, tomorrow already walks. But on a second thought, what tomorrow am I speaking of?

Ask a scientist, and he wholesomely speaks of a brittle ecological setting. See an economist, and he pictures a food shortage, too acute to serve 12 billion people by the year 2009 and beyond. Talk to an environmentalist, and he visualizes a world with depleted environment resources.

The future looks dim, and nature it seems has gone. Already there are signs: mountains raped and denuded of forest covers; climate, either burning you crazy or chilling you, rain which now you have it, later you don't. Green, the color of man's survival turned yellow and brown. The waterways, and streams dried up grasping for water. People and land drowning in floods while others lie parched without water. Truly, what 2009 and beyond am I speaking of?

I am Shelly Monique P. Petras, a 17 year old gal, and I am bothered by all of these. Is this the land my ancestors and your generation will be given to us? How do we heal this scarred land, bruised, wounded, and bound to self destruction? How do we come to the rescue to save this almost dying world? Don't you realized that when God created the world, He made it perfectly balance in ecological cycles?

Your senseless pride, your greed of wealth and power could have deafened your conscience to ignore this situation. Therefore, these frequent disturbances today forewarned us that this anticipated predicaments are inevitable.

Now, gone are the moments when our native land is famous with its wonderful tiny creatures. All of which are on the verge of extinction. Nowadays, the advancement of modern industrial technology that produces deadly and powerful bombs are the ultimate threats to end our sick sick world!

While it is true that modern science has greatly uplifted man's conventional way of living, but undeniably, it has greatly affected God's creation. Man, in his search for advancement has brought serious trouble in his environment.

Look now my friends, where are we going? Are we going to follow the path towards self destruction and that in the long run will lead us to oblivion?

With the modern technology, things begun a new look. A total change in man's way of living. We have now have these sophisticated and highly advanced techniques!

But wait, take another glimpse on what's happening around you! Where is the once beautiful earth? And what about the clean and fresh bodies of water around us? Haven't you noticed the constant change of weather? What has become to our Mother Nature? Obviously, it has vanished just like the ice water under the sun. And now, we are suffering from global destruction by natural calamities.

Why can't we simply work hand in hand and come to a point of understanding, thereby, maintaining a continual and lasting peace of human species?

To my fellow youth, and people in this community; preservation and conservation should be done before it's too late! Let us maintain the ecological balance that would make our world a beautiful and healthy place to live in. Let's join hands in fulfilling these goals and plans in order to attain a brighter future. :))
